Free freezer meals for families affected by childhood cancer & blood disorders

Childhood cancer and blood disorders turn families' lives upside down. Whether you're getting your head around a new diagnosis, going through a treatment journey, or adjusting to life outside of the hospital bubble, getting dinner on the table can be a real challenge.

West Coast Kids Cancer Foundation provides nourishing meals to families at the hospital and at home at no cost. Our meals cater to a range of cultural preferences and dietary needs, because comfort food means food that works for your family.

WCK has a dedicated freezer in the Family Lounge on the 8th floor of BC Children's Hospital. It is filled weekly with nourishing meals - please help yourself!

We're here to nourish families on the childhood cancer or blood disorder journey. We deliver up to 200 easy-to-heat meals and hundreds of snacks every week for inpatient families. We also provide meals and snacks for outpatient families, because they can face long days in the hospital too.

Home Delivery

HOME DELIVERY

Getting dinner on the table can be a challenge while your child is in treatment, or when you're adjusting to life back at home.

We’re here to help.

WCK's Nourish at Home program provides monthly deliveries of nourishing, frozen family-sized meals over a period of two months to families affected by childhood cancer and blood disorders. We deliver directly to most postcodes in British Columbia, at no cost to you.

What’s Available

We offer a variety of meals that accommodate a range of dietary needs, including gluten-free, Halal, soy-free, and vegan.

Each box includes up to two mains, three sides, and two extra items.

Smoothie Sundays

SMOOTHIE SUNDAYS

We blend fresh, delicious, made-to-order smoothies in the Family Lounge on the 8th Floor of BC Children’s Hospital. Smoothies are custom made by volunteers and delivered to inpatient families, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.

We also create individual packs of fresh veggies for families to enjoy.

Why Food Support

Food provides support, care, and connection beyond the expression of words.

When a child is in treatment, taking care of your basic needs can be incredibly difficult. Caregivers in the hospital often have to make the devastating choice between feeding themselves and leaving their child's bedside. For families transitioning from the hospital to at-home care, new routines, medication needs, and side effects from treatment make getting dinner on the table a real challenge.

West Coast Kids Cancer Foundation aims to ease this daily load for families by providing nourishing meals to families at the hospital and at home - at no cost to them.
