Camps for kids affected by cancer & blood disorders

We know that not all kids affected by cancer and blood disorders are able to go to overnight camp, so we made a program just for them.

City Camp is a medically supervised day camp in Surrey for kids navigating childhood cancer or blood disorders, and their siblings. Kids on or off treatment can safely join in on all the magic of camp while still heading home to sleep comfortably in their own beds.

Programming, facilities, and staff & volunteer training are all designed to meet the needs of children with lived experience of cancer and blood disorders. All this means you can rest assured your child is being well looked after while making lasting memories at camp.

Spring Break City Camp Dates & Location

Registration is now open for Spring Break City Camp | March 23rd - 27th, 2026

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, there is no cost to participants to attend WCK Spring Break Camp. Spaces are limited, so early sign up is encouraged.

The theme for Spring Break is BAND CAMP! Campers will have the chance to invent instruments, craft costumes, make music, build props, and end the week with a rockstar showcase for caregivers.

Who can attend?

Kids ages 5-12 (children who are 5 must turn 6 by December 2026, children who are 12 must not turn 13 in 2026) who are:

Living with or beyond cancer/blood disorders
Siblings of those living with/beyond cancer/blood disorders
Bereaved siblings

An important note for families with 11-12-year-olds: to help ensure our programming remains engaging, safe, and age appropriate for all campers, we are trialling a Camp Helper role this year for older campers (ages 11-12).

As Camp Helpers they will have the opportunity to:

Buddy with younger or new campers
Support volunteers with simple set-up or activity tasks

This gives older campers a meaningful way to stay involved in camp. Please note: we will consider each child’s support needs and readiness on a case by case basis to ensure the Camp Helper role is an appropriate fit.

Who can participate?

What is a camp helper?

An important note for families with 11-12-year-olds: to help ensure our programming remains engaging, safe, and age appropriate for all campers, we are trialling a Camp Helper role this year for older campers (ages 11-12). As Camp Helpers they will have the opportunity to:

Support volunteers with simple set-up or activity tasks

Is there a cost to City Camp?

No, all sessions of City Camp are provided free of charge to families, thanks to our generous donors.

Who will take care of my child's medical needs?

WCK has two registered nurses on site at all times during camp sessions.

Does my child need to attend all days of camp, or can they attend part of the week? Can we drop in at short notice?

We want the WCK City Camp to be a source of support for your family. Please attend on days that work for you.

What kinds of activities will my child participate in?

City Camp strives to create a safe and inclusive space for children with varying needs and abilities. Children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of group and individual activities. Some examples include Lego building, arts and crafts, active games, learning labs, music, theatre, mindfulness mat time, outdoor play, and more.

Why City Camp?

Not all families are familiar or comfortable with sending their child away to overnight camp, and that's why we created City Camp. WCK's City Camp is the perfect way for kids to have it all: learn new skills, make new friends, play outside and sleep in their own bed each night.

At WCK City Camp, kids and siblings of kids with childhood cancer and blood disorders can connect, play, make memories, and be kids. We provide flexibility for parents and caregivers so attendance can be scheduled around treatment, and we ensure that we have medical staff on site at all times.
